PROTON brought its brand promise of Inspiring Connections to the streets of Kuala Lumpur as Title Sponsor of the 5KM category at the Malaysia Marathon 2026, held on the eve of Hari Merdeka, celebrating the spirit of unity and progress that connects all Malaysians.
The Malaysia Marathon 2026 attracted more than 25,000 runners from 69 countries across the 42KM, 21KM, 10KM and 5KM categories. The 5KM event, sponsored by PROTON, was officially flagged off by Deputy Prime Minister YAB Dato' Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
In recognition of PROTON’s sponsorship of the race, the All-New Proton Saga led off 10,000 participants as the official lead car. To support the event, 100 members of PROTON's management and employees also took part in the event.

The celebration continued beyond the finish line with the Proton Saga Lucky Draw, giving one participant the opportunity to drive home an All-New Proton Saga.
As Malaysia’s iconic sedan, the Saga has been the choice of more than 2.2 million Malaysians. The All-New Saga builds on this legacy with six SRS airbags, nine ADAS features, a new i-GT 1.5-litre engine with CVT and fuel efficiency of 4.9L/100km, alongside PROTON’s signature Ride and Handling and a 16-inch Integrated Dual Screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Developed on PROTON’s proprietary Advanced Modular Architecture, the All-New Saga is the first model in the company’s history to be fully designed, engineered and validated by Malaysian talent, with technical collaboration from Geely.
Conducted through an electronic random-selection system using the verified entry list, Muhammad Eusoff Bin Abdul Salim was selected as the lucky winner. The vehicle key was presented by Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa, Timbalan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif PROTON.
